Our practice was established in 2003 and since then my team has expanded to include Karen Hagan and Malvika Bali. Together, we’ve helped thousands of individuals, couples, and families work through life’s stressors, develop new goals, and build stronger relationships.

We understand and recognise the broad challenges and emotional difficulties that can occur in our lives and want to help ease the pain, sadness and loneliness that is often endured during these difficult times.

Whether you meet with me or one of my team I can assure you are being provided with therapy of the highest standards along with kindness, respect and compassion to your personal circumstances.

While there are many similarities in the way we work, each therapist has their own specialised skill set and unique way of working.  Read over each therapist’s profile to help you select who you think may be a good fit for you and your situation, but if you are unsure or just don’t have the time, please give us a call and we will help guide you based on your specific needs and situation.

What inspired me to become a Counsellor?

My interest in the field started as a young adult when I experienced my own challenges with panic attacks and anxiety. Through my own personal journey and success, I realised the importance of good professional support and went on to train as a Counsellor and Psychotherapist.

My professional training began with a Bachelor’s Degree in Counselling and Human Change at the Jansen Newman Institute in Sydney. It opened my mind and increased my passion towards understanding how we think, what we feel, and why we behave the way we do. Since then, I have had the privilege of assisting many people experiencing difficult times.

After graduation, I was involved in facilitating various groups (men’s groups in particular) around alcohol, substance abuse, anger, and mental health. Working with men really increased my awareness and appreciation of the struggles they have in meeting the demands of life and in navigating their way around emotions; an area they aren’t usually taught to manage or understand well.

My clients continue to inspire me as I watch them change and grow throughout the process and they begin to heal and smile again. The counselling process is what makes this possible.

My Approach

Everyone’s situation is unique and has different needs. I provide a practical and supportive approach for individuals and couples to explore emotional stressors, difficult thoughts, and behavioural patterns that may feel unmanageable at present.

For individuals, we will work towards building a happier and more rewarding life balance by carefully and attentively listening to your concerns, enhancing your personal awareness, and increasing coping strategies. I am professionally trained in many different styles of therapy, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), which allows me to develop a very personal approach that is best suited to you and your needs.

For couples, I provide a safe and open forum to identify and address the main issues within the relationship and to develop effective tools for communication and conflict resolution. This process can help couples seek a renewed sense of connection and understanding of one another.

I have a passion for relationship counselling, and I have devoted myself to extensive couples training, specifically The Gottman Institutes method of couples therapy. My aim is to foster an environment in which you and your partner feel heard, respected, and safe to discuss your feelings and needs with each other and myself. As an overview, relationship counselling is a space for you to explore the challenges, strengths and needs of your relationship, and yourself, in a trusted environment without judgement.

I am very committed to my own ongoing personal and professional development. This includes regular training in several counselling disciplines, research, and clinical supervision.
